Different types of Whois databases

There are two types of Whois databases available. A Whois database will either contain records on:

1. IP address registrations

or
2. Domain name registrations

The APNIC Whois Database contains records of IP address registrations. Please use the APNIC Whois Database to search for details on IP addresses only.

To search on a domain name, do not use the APNIC Whois Database. Instead, please search the whois database of an appropriate domain name registrar (see the IANA website for details).

IP address registrations

The following Whois databases contain information on networks allocated IP address space. If a database does not contain the record of the IP address you are querying, the database may direct you to the correct database.
