Database news
Four-byte AS numbers
On 1 January 2007, APNIC began processing applications for four-byte AS numbers. Please see:
- ASN resource guide for more information.
- Attributes of APNIC Whois Database objects for details about syntax changes.
Protecting historical records in the APNIC Whois Database
To ensure the integrity of information in the APNIC Whois Database, on 14 December 2004, the maintainer of all historical resources in the APNIC Whois Database was changed to the APNIC-HM maintainer. APNIC will not update historical information in the APNIC Whois Database until the resource holder can prove the organisation's right to the resources and has a formal agreement with APNIC as a member or non-member account holder. For more information see:
- Policies for historical Internet resources in the APNIC Whois Database
- Guide to the maintenance of historical Internet resources
Privacy of customer assignments
The APNIC Secretariat recently implemented the database changes outlined in prop-007-v001. This means that as of 30 September 2004, LIRs can now decide whether or not their customer registration details will be publicly visible in the APNIC Whois Database. Database queries on customer assignments not designated 'public' will now be directed to the upstream provider's registration information.
These changes do not affect portable allocations and assignments. For more information, see:
Other news
- From 5 January 2004, APNIC allocation and assignment reports will be produced in a new format. For information on the new format, see:
