APNIC’s research and development activities are designed to inform the basis of APNIC’s operational and policy activities and include data collection and analysis, speculative research, and standards development with both a short and long term focus.

Current research and development activities

Resource certification APNIC’s involvement in global activities to develop a secure resource management and routing environment.
IPv4 consumption Analysis of global IPv4 consumption and predicted timelines for the remaining IANA and RIR IPv4 address space.
Transition to IPv6 Analysis of delegations made by the RIRs and their relationship with IPv6 announcements on the Internet.
Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs) Analysis of the deployment of four-byte ASNs since RIRs began assigning them on 1 January 2007.
DNS statistics Collection and analysis of APNIC’s DNS statistics nodes.
